About Me
I started this blog a long time ago, but not until recently have I really felt an urge to write. So who am I? I am a husband, an avid reader, and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. My schooling is varied. I initially didn't know what I wanted to pursue and changed my major many times. After a two-year mission to South Africa, I decided to become a S&I teacher for the Church, but God had other plans.
I went to LDSBC for my associates with a plan to pursue an ANES degree at Brigham Young. However, due to personal circumstances I moved back to Missouri and ultimately finished my undergrad in Religious Studies with an emphasis in the History of Christianity and Judaism, and a minor in Political Science. A weird combination, I know. But there is a reason for it.
While I was pursuing my Bachelor's, I decided to completely change my trajectory and went to nursing school. I was becoming concerned with the state of things and financial outlook of my career choice. I was also butting heads with the professors and not liking the idea of Biblical Studies more and more. My plan was to get a PhD in theology but due to preconceived notions and quite possibly a false worldview, I jumped ship. Nursing school was suggested by a close friend and it seemed like a viable option. I should have did some job shadowing, but that is beside the point. It ultimately helped shape my current worldview and introduce me to many things I had not yet considered. My plan was to become a nurse practitioner, but soon they required a doctorate for that position. I decided it may be better to pursue becoming a doctor, a DO or MD. I ended up settling on Chiropractic, a non-invasive paradigm to promote lasting health. So I returned to my former degree course in Religious Studies and looked for a minor that would allow me to quickly finish, Political Science and switched from a BA to a BS. In hindsight, I should continued and got my BA. The difference is mainly language courses. I was taking Ancient Greek. That would have been helpful to finish. But hindsight is always 20/20 and I don't think I would be were I am at today if I followed a different course.
Maybe none of that was needed, but I like context. I want to know where someone is coming from. This blog is not about healthcare or anything chiropractic related. I love my choice in profession because I am able to help many who otherwise may go untreated. There is a lot of controversy surrounding my profession and I understand why though that doesn't negate the outcomes people generally have with chiropractic care. And I know I have a very distinct worldview in regards to it, many may consider it fringe-worthy. But mainly it is a wholly different paradigm especially the path I have chosen in functional and herbal medicine. And it is not without its science. It is just generally misunderstood or more often, misrepresented by those who claim it as their own. Okay, I will get off my soap box.
I hope it helps to see me in context, to see where I am coming from, and to know my training background. My official training doesn't account for all the learning I have accumulated. As I said I am an avid reader. I also love lectures. I have listened to countless lectures on YouTube. I love to consume knowledge, to weigh the differences, and to draw conclusions. My love for understanding and teaching the Gospel has not changed. It is still my primary pursuit, just not formally. It excites me that there is so much to learn.
This blog's central purpose is a place for me to explore and write articles on various gospel-related topics. Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the blogs will clearly come from that perspective. And by that I don't mean to demean or put down anyone else's beliefs. I fully support everyone's right to believe. I hope that is clear in my writing and if it isn't please feel free to send me a message and let me know. That being said, I am pretty straight forward in my writing and speaking. I don't like to beat around the bush or sugar coat things. So if it comes off as callous or uncaring, it isn't. So this is just my disclaimer 😉.

So why Hedgehog? It comes from my last name, Ariciu. It is Romanian for hedgehog. In Eastern European thought, hedgehogs are considered to be wise. Though having this last name may explain my love for Sonic the Hedgehog video games growing up. So I thought I would use the translation of my last name to title my blog of musings.
